TAILGATE ASSISTThe perfect solution to the struggle of lowering and raising a ute's heavy tailgate, Tailgate Assist safely controls the opening speed and reduces the effort required to close while enabling simple, one-handed operation.Manufactured in Australia, Tailgate Assist incorporates two types of struts co-developed with a world-leading gas strut manufacturer.The passenger side damping strut helps to slowly lower the tailgate which, once opened, can be let go and continue to lower unassisted in a controlled manner. On the driver's side of the tailgate, a gas-assisted traction strut helps to close the tailgate; making lifting easy and achievable with a simple one-handed motion.Each kit comes with vehicle-specific hardware including mounting brackets and replacement tailgate cables and guide brackets where required.Product SpecificationThe recent release of the Ford Ranger PXIII & Ranger Raptor has seen the introduction of a factory fitted tailgate torsion spring that is designed to assist the closing effort of the tailgate. Whilst it offers the user assistance for the closing operation of the tailgate, it does not offer safe, controlled opening as there are no dampening struts used in conjunction with the torsion spring. Using the existing ARB Tailgate Assist System to suit the Ford Ranger PXI & II as the foundation, a new kit has now been developed to compliment the factory torsion spring to offer safe, controlled opening of the tailgate. All Ford Ranger PXIII model variants and Ranger Raptors come factory fitted with the tailgate torsion spring and therefore when selecting an ARB Tailgate Assist System, the new 4740050 kit must be selected for these models. Ford Ranger PXI & II require the 4740040 Tailgate Assist System which includes the additional gas assist strut.Installation:Fitting of the Tailgate Assist System to the Ford Ranger PXIII & Raptor is a simple task taking only 20 minutes with minimal drilling required.
